| The USDA begins to report the percent of the corn crop in the "dough" stage around the first week of July. Over the last 14 years, on average, about 25 percent of the crop was in the dough stage by the first week of August, about 50 percent was in the doug stage by mid-August, and about 75 percent was in the dough stage by the last week in August. To see what crop progress is for the 1999 crop, check the table labeled "1999 Crop Progress." If you have Adobe's Acrobat Reader on your computer, a more extensive analysis of the corn crop's yield prospects is available in pdf format under "1999 Corn Crop Yield Outlook." |
