Workshop Objectives

This one-day workshop will help crop

insurance agents, agricultural lenders and other financial consultants provide better risk management information and advice to their clients.  During the workshop, participants will complete the following tasks:

1.     The Risk Management Agency is developing plans to identify fraud and abuse.  Agents will learn what is expected of them under the fraud and abuse provisions.

2.   Participants will analyze the new farm bill and its effect on the crop insurance industry and farmers.

3.   Other issues will include: underwriting  rules and other government policies that applied to the current drought.

G.A. (Art) Barnaby, Jr. is a Professor of Agricultural Economics, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.  He conducts education programs on risk.

 

Arthur Carroll is Secretary of the National Association of Crop Insurance Agents (NACIA), Limerick, Maine.

 

Rebecca Davis is Director of the Regional Office for the Risk Management Agency, Topeka, Kansas.  The Topeka office provides program information and conducts program analyses and evaluations on crop insurance and agricultural risk management for the states of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

 

Allen Dutcher is a State Climatologist/Operations, Climatologist, School of Natural Resource Sciences , University of Nebraska , Lincoln , Nebraska .
